I’ve been dying for Asian food since I found out gluten/wheat was responsible for my mysterious health issues. I decided to try this recipe , and modified it just a tad. My awesome sister in law had some great tips!

Total time from start to finish for me was just a little over one hour.

Here is what I did:

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon Vegetable oil

1-2 teaspoons ground ginger

1 tablespoon minced garlic

½ cup gluten free, non-GMO soy sauce

½ cup water

¾ cup dark brown sugar

1 cup olive oil

1.5-2 lbs stew meat

½ cup cornstarch

3-4 large broccoli heads

1 bunch green onions, cut on diagonal into 2-inch pieces (I cut the onion-y white parts smaller and used them as well)

Instructions:

Cut the meat (I wasn’t sure about stew meat, but it actually turned out to be pretty tasty! I got a large pack at Costco and split it up into 3 portions and froze them for future use. Each portion only cost about $8! I like a lot of meat, but didn’t want to spend too much 😉 ):

Toss in the corn starch, and set aside:

Prepare the sauce:

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in saucepan over medium heat, and add ginger and garlic, and stir for 30 seconds.

Add soy sauce, water, and brown sugar, bring to a boil, and simmer until thickened some, about 10-15 minutes:
Broccoli is optional, but I like it with my dish. 🙂

Add some olive oil to a large pan and cook broccoli for approx 10 minutes, until tender (but not mushy):
Set aside, and cover:
Add olive oil to pan, and then add meat. Cook until no pink left:

Add broccoli, onions, and sauce, and cook until green onions are soft (just a few minutes):
  Serve over rice! 🙂
